    Photography without the digital

Outside of development I experiment with photography as a creative outlet. I’ve recently been practicing analog photography, using black and white film to photograph cityscapes and people with my 1970 Minolta XD5 SLR. I’ve removed the digital process completely by processing and developing the film at home, converting a small bathroom into my temporary darkroom - currently researching how to create and 3D print a photo enlarger.

  • Triffids

Born out of a weekend-long open data hackathon with Bristol City Council I worked with a small team to collaborate and build a web and mobile site that celebrates the green spaces and environment in the city using open environment data from Bristol Cty Council.

  • Machine Learning in Node with DeepLearn.js

During many projects I’ve experimented with using and exploiting Artificial Intelligence systems, using Watson, Google Deep Learn, and Microsoft Cognitive Services, to name a few. This post follows my research and investigation on creating my own AI system using Node how I’m including this in my home automation system.

  • DIY IoT

A subject close to my heart, I’ve been an advocate of DIY IoT after investigating this during my degree, and gave a short talk on the subject. This post will cover how I have created my own IoT devices that mimic or improve on the consumer products for (usually) much cheaper. I’ll talk about the processing I go through when prototyping and implementing embedded devices around my home.
